What is PalletPalooza™?
PalletPalooza™ is a Kalamazoo area recycled pallet creation competition and festival.
Recycled pallets are being transformed into amazing projects from wall art to furniture. PalletPalooza™ is celebrating the recycled pallet trend with a competition and a one day festival.




Who can enter PalletPalooza™?

Individuals, Teams, Church Groups, Businesses, Non-profit Organizations….Anyone person or any group can enter the recycled pallet creation completion.

When is the entry period for PalletPalooza™?
The entry period is May 22nd through June 30th, 2017. You must have your project completed and photo’s submitted by the June 30th deadline.

How do I enter the competition?

It’s easy! Register online at http://palletswmi.com/ from May 22nd through June 30th, 2017. There is a registration fee of just $20 and includes a PalletPalooza™ T-shirt!

What is the Prize?

There is $2000 in cash prize money split between 4 categories: Furniture, Functional, Art & Décor and Signs. Plus the overall winner chosen by our panel of judges. See the rules section for the complete breakdown of prizes.

Can I enter more than one project?

Absolutely! Each project requires a $20.00 registration fee. After registering your first item online, contact us directly at info@palletswmi.com and we will register the other projects for you.

Where do I get pallets?


We have many locations that are offering FREE pallets for the event. Please visit our Pallet Provider tab on our event website http://palletswmi.com/.

Do I need to pay for Pallets?

No, we have lots of generous business that are offering free pallets. Please visit our Pallet Provider tab on our event website PalletSWMI.com.

When does my project need to be completed?

June 30, 2017 is the deadline to complete and submit photos of your project. Your creations will be matched with a participating venue to be on display to be view by the general public from July 24th through Aug. 9th.

How do I submit my photos of my creation?


Right through your registration portal on the website.

My project is not mobile. Can I still enter the competition?

Yes, we will have a digital venue for all the creations that cannot be moved. They will be on display for the general public to view by photos on a slide show.

I understand my creation will be on display. Do I get to pick my venue?


No. Each venue has space restrictions so we will match creations with venue locations based on these factors.

We have a team project. Can we get extra t-shirts?

Yes, please contact us at info@palletswmi.org to order additional event t-shirts.

What is the purpose of PalletPalooza™?


PalletPalooza™ is a benefit for Goodwill Industries of SW MI. All proceeds from the competition and festival will be donated to Goodwill Industries of SW MI.

When will the winners be announced?


At the PalletPalooza™ Day Grand Finale! PalletPalooza™ Day is a festival and awards celebration on August 12, 2017 on the campus of Western Michigan University Recreation Center. The Festival is from 2 PM to 6 PM. The winners will be announced on center stage at 5:30 PM. You must be present to win. What is Inspire Online Category?

Though you must be present to compete and win the cash prizes for the Main competition, this year we have a separate online only competion for those individuals and teams that are 75 miles or more away from Kalamazoo. They may enter the online only completion to compete by public vote for a $150 prize as our Inspire Online winner. There is a $10.00 fee to enter (this does not include an event t-shirt).

Introducing PalletPalooza Judge William Crown - Wood Working Expert

Say Hello to William Crown, President of the Woodworkers Guild of Southwest Michigan.

We are honored to have William lend us his woodworking expertise as a judge for PalletPalooza™ 2017. Bill has been a member of the Woodworkers Guild for over 20 years now, and has been serving as its President for the past 7. He is a passionate woodworker hobbyist and has been making furniture for over 35 years.

The Woodworkers Guild of Southwest Michigan is located in the Kalamazoo area and meets every second Tuesday of the month except for the summer months. You are welcome to attend a meeting and you are encouraged to join. A few of the recent programs the Guild has enjoyed at their meetings include:

· Visit to David Lewis Figures of Wood saw mill, road trip

· Joe Beam custom furniture

· Woodcraft presentation, spray finishing

· Aaron Stinson - Chainsaw carver - builder

· Tom Niehl - Wood Identification

· Kendall School of Design - Furniture Design - road trip

· Blacksmithing and barrel making - Chuck Andrews - road trip


Guild members also donate hundreds of handcrafted wooden toys each year to the Portage Community Center and the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. If you are interested in woodworking, you are encouraged to come and meet with other fellow woodworkers from the Kalamazoo area who enjoy sharing their love of the craft, and learn more from the programs and from one another.

Say Hello to our Second PalletPalooza™ Judge - Lori Moore

We are thrilled to introduce our Second PalletPalooza™ Judge - Lori Moore, host of "The Lori Moore Show".

You can watch Lori as she interviews local guest highlighting the best things about West Michigan on CW7 every weekday at 4:00 pm. When you watch her show, you will get to know this amazing community that we live in. Lori books her own shows and her contact list is vast because she is out there emceeing events, hosting something, guest speaking and attending and enjoying so many events throughout the area.

Lori is one of those special people who is in the community and for the community.

Kitty opened her first store at 4217 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI in 2011 and a second store at 6883 West Main, Kalamazoo, MI in 2014. You cannot shop for “just a quick look” at KalamazooKitty! Each of Kitty’s store locations are filled with eclectic treasures and you will find yourself lingering at each booth.

PalletPalooza is Almost Here & Craft Beer!?!

We are going to create history at the Kalamazoo On Tap Craft Beer Festival on May 20th. How?
We are creating the Longest Pallet Beer Flight!

The 3rd Annual Kalamazoo on Tap is coming to Homer Stryker Field, home of the Kalamazoo Growlers on Saturday, May 20th from 3pm-6pm. PalletPalooza™ will be there creating the longest beer flight made out of recycled pallets customized by area breweries.
